Power of the Y.L.C.

Many of the speeches that were given by the members of the 2007-2008 Youth Leadership Council brought up the ideas of positive changes for the future of this country, and many of these Y.L.C. speakers are the ones who will make the difference.

Some in the Y.L.C. desire to pursue a career in politics, whether that would be as a lobbyist, a lawyer, a state representative, a diplomat, a president, or even a position in their local government at home. Others in the Y.L.C. want to be doctors or veterinary technicians, engineers or designers, and some individuals in the Y.L.C. just want to be a good mom or dad.

What makes the people of the Y.L.C. so powerful is that they have a passion, a dream, and pursuit to make a difference in the world by being involved in any service opportunity. They know that if they want to change the world for the better they have to take action. These individuals have already started on a wonderful journey through the opportunities that have opened up because of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

As the participants of the Y.L.C. continue on with their goals and dreams, they continue on with a renewed spark of energy which has been given to them through the experiences and relationships that were forged together in Washington D.C. This spark of energy is reinforced by the family at the NRECA because the employees at the national and local level of rural electric cooperatives understand how important the youth of America are to the future of this country and its cooperatives. The Youth Leadership Council members are ready to make a difference because they have the power and assurance in each other's abilities to propel everything good into the world.

*Thank you to the NRECA, Karen Bailey, Steve Uram, and the Y.L.C. staff for instilling everything good into the youth of today. The Y.L.C. is grateful for everything that you do.*
